The Ben Simmons Vs Donovan Mitchell race for Rookie of the Year, is it really a race? Seems pretty one-sided to me.

Dante Exum soon to return from injury, Joe Ingles has the best month of his life, Is Aron Baynes good or bad for the Celtics lineup and Patty Mills is insulted by being called a Jamaican bobsledder.

The NBL made headlines after announcing their plan to add new teams to the league, backed by AFL and NRL clubs. Larry Kestelman started the media frenzy after pointing out that Fremantle would make a great spot for the ninth NBL team and that multiple AFL and NRL clubs were showing a keen interest in the model.

Dan Boyce sits down with Aussie Hoopla contributor Nick Farley to discuss whether AFL clubs entering the NBL would really work and whether AFL members could really be persuaded to buy NBL memberships.

Topics discussed on the show include;

  • What's in this for the AFL? (2:00)
  • Is it a mistake to think that AFL paying members would easily translate to NBL paying members? (9:00)
  • Would AFL/NRL teams like Collingwood, Essendon or Manly alienate more potential basketball fans than it attracts? (11:30)
  • Which AFL/NRL teams would be the best fit to enter teams into the NBL (14:00)
  • How would sponsorship be affected (18:00)
  • Is an AFL/NRL team really a possibility to enter a team into the NBL or is there evidence to say this is merely a publicity stunt? (19:30)
  • What NBA players would be interested in investing in NBL teams (26:00)
  • Why aligning with AFL teams doesn't guarantee NBL success. (37:00)
  • If it were to happen would AFL teams really poach all of the Aussie basketball talents? (40:00)

All of this and a whole lot more....
